About Litilaw: Legal Research & Articles

We created Litilaw as a way to organize and make assessable the great legal research that is available on the internet.  A tremendous amount of high-quality legal research has been written by lawyers as part of continuing legal education (CLE) programs or conferences, or published in legal magazines or articles.  These materials are high quality, specific and topical.  Often they represent the best writing available on a legal subject, but can be difficult to find.  They are usually buried in law firm web sites and not well indexed in Google and other web search engines.

Litilaw gathers descriptions of and links to these articles and organizes the articles into an easy to use searchable collection.  We include the title, authors, a description, the publication, year published and number of pages.  The collection is text-searchable to allow users to find articles by applicable keywords. Articles are available full-text in PDF or PPT formats.

Articles are categorized and organized into over 50 substantive and procedural areas of law.
Procedural law areas include arbitration, mediation and alternative dispute resolution (ADR), appellate practice, civil pre-trial practice, civil trial practice, class actions, criminal procedure, e-discovery, ethics, evidence, expert witnesses and jurisdiction and venue.

Substantive law areas include admiralty and maritime, antitrust, banking and finance, bankruptcy law, business law, commercial law, construction law, corporate and securities, criminal law, employment and labor law, energy, alternative energy sources and oil and gas law, environmental law, franchise and distribution, governmental law, health care law, information law and privacy, insurance law, patent, trademark and intellectual property (IP) law, legal and professional malpractice, marital and family law, media and entertainment law, personal injury (PI) law, probate, trusts and estates law, product liability and mass tort, qui tam and false claims act actions, real estate law and tax law.

Other areas of interest covered are computer forensics, legal research, litigation support and practice management.

Article authors may also add links to their CLE or published articles to Litilaw through an online form. Publishing articles through Litilaw allows authors to get greater exposure for their CLE presentations and articles and can be an important component of ethical law practice promotion and advertising. Litilaw will host articles in PDF format if the authors of the article would prefer not to host the documents themselves.
